Sources and intake

How facts reach governed state.

The gate decides on governed state: facts with a source, a version and a status. Facts reach the record from the systems where they are created, through connected sources, and from people working in the console. Intake accepts events from connectors with a registered signature, such as Linear and GitHub.

Connected sources#

When you connect a source in the console, CognaOne creates an intake URL and a signing secret for it. The source system sends its events to that URL, signed with the secret.

ping_okA setup event from the source (for example a GitHub ping); stored, nothing else happens

Facts on the action itself#

The details of the action an agent wants to take travel in the payload of the gate call. See Gate API.
