Quickstart: your first AI system

Register one AI system, name the people accountable for it and read what it still needs. About fifteen minutes, with no integration work.

  1. 01
    Open the inventory

Go to Inventory, AI systems, and choose Register.

  2. 02
    Describe the system

Give it a name, a type (agent, assistant, predictive model or AI automation), how it is sourced (in house, third party or co-developed), its lifecycle stage, purpose, business unit and the technology it uses.

  3. 03
    Answer the screening questions

Does it use personal information? For APRA-regulated organisations: does it support a critical operation? Not sure is a valid answer.

  4. 04
    Name the people

Add a business owner (required) and an accountable executive. Reviewers are optional. People do not need a console login to be named.

  5. 05
    Complete the profile

Intended use, who uses it, people affected, human oversight, data sources, limitations and foreseeable misuse. The fields follow the Australian Government AI register template, so the language is familiar.

  6. 06
    Read its governance state

The system shows Needs attention or Current, with the reasons. Work through the reasons until it is Current.

CognaOne works out the state from the record and always says why. Illustrative.
